Travelers looking for five-star hotels in New Dehli will no doubt find the same things here that characterize this vibrant and exciting city. A splendid mix of old-world hospitality with new world technology and style, the hotels offer a host of details that are enticing and exquisitely tasteful. The city is among the longest continually-inhabited places on earth, and the hotels reflect the same sense of history and grace. The place you lay your head should be rejuvenating and refreshing, and these hotels will give you exactly what you are looking for.
While you are in the city, there are a myriad of possibilities for interesting and fascinating adventures. A barrage of cultures and languages, the human drama plays itself out here on the streets every day, and invents complicated and wonderful rhythms at night. There is a tremendous local culture here, but the global culture is also making a glorious stomp. World travelers looking for evidence of global hiphop rhythms in Delhi will find some amazing new talents to add to the international menu. In Delhi, one of the most exciting young talents is DJ MoCity. Mohammed Abood was born in Baghdad, but raised here, and his unique stylings reflect the place, along with his national roots.
He works with the intention of bringing diverse audiences together, entertaining the locals along with the expatriate communities, and his rhythms are samplings of U.S. hiphop culture with generous mixtures of Indian and Arab musical styles. He plays widely in New Delhi, promoting variations of the hiphop mainstay, the block party. Their shows are an explosion of sound and fashion, street smart and with an urban sophistication, and are excellent ways to discover some of the more local variations of global music culture. With one eye on developing his skills as a performer, and the other on developing his skills as a producer, DJ MoCity is creating a phenomena out of his complex image.
Ibiza is a popular destination for tourists who are eager to enjoy a festive party island atmosphere. Among the many clubs of the island, there are also significant cultural entertainment and dining options. This is the perfect island destination for a day at the beach followed by a night of club hopping and partying. The beaches are generally full of water sports and sun bathing enthusiasts through the summer months. Some of the common water sports are scuba diving, windsurfing, and boating. Although tourism dies down through the Fall and Winter, some resorts, restaurants and clubs stay open all year. Some people even prefer the more secluded atmosphere on the island in the colder season, and one thing is guaranteed for those that do. The beaches on Ibiza are beautiful all year long, and provide the perfect setting for a romantic get away. Tourists often choose one of the five star hotels Ibiza that is closest to or even situated right on the beach of their choice.
The San Antonio Beach is as popular as this major Ibiza town. And while the beach does not actually go into the town, there are many strips of beautiful sandy beaches on the outskirts. These stretch all the way to the bay, and the bay area beaches are some of the more spectacular on the island. They are gentle sloping beaches that are perfect for sunbathing and in water paddling. There is a small beach at the back of the town, the Cala D’es Moro, which is frequented by locals who wish to stay away from the tourist packed beaches near the marina. The Cala Blanca is Ibiza’s unofficial nude bathing beach. Not all of the visitors lounge in the sand nude, though it is common. There is a central rustic café bar that separates two small beach areas. This is the only establishment on the beach, so it is popular, yet reasonably priced. It sits on stilts, and juts out slightly into the water. Many locals go to this beach on the weekends and the waters can be choppy. This is because the seabed is away from the main shore and it is rocky.
In Delhi, five-star hotels are of the luxury and style one would expect from one of the world’s largest cities. The hotel should be at the center of the journey, as a place to re-invigorate at the end of exciting and colorful days.
Rich in tradition and innovation, the art scene here reflects and predicts the cultural patterns of the city. One of the most-cutting edge organizations, testifying to the liveliness of Indian art, is the Khoj International Artists Association. This artist-run organization is a visual arts community whose interests are in developing new art works in some of the more experimental forms, such as video installation, sound, media art, and community based artworks. Their focus is intensely, but not exclusively, on Southern Asia. Artists they’ve worked with have been from India, of course, and also from Africa, Indonesia, Japan, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, Brazil, and Argentina. This mix of local and international provides for a lively mix in which to begin conversations about the nature of art-making in the modern world.
Khoj International Artists’ Association is closely connected with dozens of fascinating projects, residencies, and symposia. Their long commitment to their central mission is proven by the quality of the projects, as well as their international reputation. Having recently celebrated their first decade as an organization, they organized Khoj Live 08 Delhi’s first International Performance Art Festival. Featuring some of the most fascinating works of live performance and time-based art, the festival was held in multiple venues over the course of a week, to establish Delhi as an important center for making and curating live art.
For world travelers looking for an incredibly luscious beach resort, Thailand is an absolute gold mine. The tropical climate is always inviting, fluctuating between dramatic or dreamy, and there is much to see here that will make for memories in the years to come. The food is absolutely heavenly, and the culture is warm and friendly. There are traditions of old-world hospitality and grace, and there are centers of profoundly lively urban activity.
Bangkok is one of the largest cities in the world, and is a kind of gateway to all of Asia. It is multicultural and vibrant, with a fascinating mix of languages and customs. There are iconoclastic artists here as well, looking at custom and culture with a critical eye in the face of modernity. One group of bold and innovative artists can be found at Project 304. This is a not-for-profit artspace in Bangkok, with around 90 square meters of exhibition space, that was started in 1996. Keeping the work small-scale and local, they have managed to make some important headway into asking very important questions about the way art is made locally and in relation to the international art marketplace.
The lofty intention here is to help bridge the gap between art and society, and Project 304 has been persistent in its mission. They work with artists on many levels in their career paths, but take special care to nurture new voices and visions. There is no preferred discipline, instead they honor the impulse to integrate art into the community over formal concerns. They have participated in the Bangkok Experimental Film Festival (BEFF), one of very few of its kind in the world. Shifting the focus from art as a commodity to art as an instrument of change, their conceptual approach is very interesting, and offers a unique and vital window on the evolution of contemporary Thai culture.
