There is also in development a School of Medical Sciences. This school was intended to commence with the rest of the university, though its actual start was delayed. It was held back to ensure that it would offer the state of the art theories, equipment and practices in the medical field. It will ultimately be proud to undertake research in the frontiers of international medical practice. In addition, it will form an interaction with the Schools of Chemistry, Physics and the Life Sciences.
The Sarojini Naidu School of Performing Arts, Fine Arts and Communication first began functioning in the terms of 1988 and 1989. There are four departments in the school that offer degrees in dance, performing arts, fine arts and communication. It eventually plans to enlarge the school to include a department of music. There is an interdisciplinary approach applied to most of the programs of study to encourage an awareness and diverse orientation to one’s own field. Many of these art forms interact with each other in any given production, and a thorough education is essential to future professionals. The broad reaching program also has a strong focus on the evolution and cultural relevance of the performance arts.
