The Salvation Cafe

There are many options to choose from on the Johannesburg fine dining scene.  One of the most quaint and nutritious of those options is the Salvation Cafe.  It is located in the middle of a community of artist lofts and work spaces, and the atmosphere created is incredible, and relaxing, and delicious.  Offered up to begin the meal is any one of the various combinations of fresh squeezed fruit and vegetable juices.  Not only are some of the combinations intense in flavor, but the minute one takes that first sip, it is obvious that everything from there on out, will be good for the body.  The restaurant offers up an extensive vegetarian menu, just as a Curry dish made with coconut, eggplant and beets, served with wild rice and chili sauce.  The baba ganoush and tzatziki cucumber dip served with fresh, warm pita is another popular item.

There are many dishes served by the Salvation that are meat and cheese dishes, such as an omelet filled with brie cheese and walnuts, and a variety of various gourmet style hamburgers.  Steaks and roasted chicken are among some of the delightful dishes.  All the ingredients of the restaurant are organic, and much like the United States restaurants in Chicago, Lula Cafe , or the House of Tricks in Tempe, Arizona all the meat and eggs are products of free-range and hormone free farming.  The items on the menu change from time to time depending on what is in season and the most fresh produce available.  There is also an extensive wine list that is made up of only organic wines, many from the Bon Cap estate , and are offered by the bottle and by the glass as well.  This is a new breed of restaurant, that is a response to a world that is becoming more concerned with the environment and with health conscious living, and is one of the many fine restaurants in the city of Johannesburg.
