Personal Dating
My single friend, Beverly, goes online and searches the Personal Dating sites , to find her next date. I ask her if it isn’t easier to run into someone where she works. Surely, I tell her, when you’re working at the Five Star Hotels in Singapore you must run into many handsome men. She told me she has better luck meeting a man online. Though there’s still a certain inexplicable stigma attached to online dating, she is a huge proponent. Many of my other girlfriends have met their long-term boyfriends that way and the majority of weddings I’ve attended were couples who met via the Internet.
Online dating may not be the way you dreamed about how to find a boyfriend, but let’s face it, the best love stories will not align with your lifestyle. The movies make finding a guy to date seem easy. But, in real life we need help. We have become resolved to online dating, but that doesn’t mean online date should be your only strategy for meeting people. One should diversify like how you diversify your 401K . Online dating is going to provide a good flow of new people for you to meet and you should put the the right kind of attention to those relationships they deserve, but when you are between online romances, or waiting for your online match to answer those exacting second round of questions , you should always be going out to social events and not turn down a natural match made in the real world.
Through meeting new people you will learn what you like and dislike, naturally, what will work in a relationship and you will discover what you want out of a relationship. You will become ‘good’ at dating. It’s very important to recognize that dating is an art form and it does take practice. Believing you will find the right person and hit it off right away is a false belief. 99% of the time they will not be ‘the one’. Online dating is going to take effort and self awareness because unlike meeting people in the real world where you meet and have a common ground , meeting in the virtual world of online dating will bring out more people you have no common ground.
