On the lookout for five-star Barcelona hotels ?  It’s a very pleasurable search.  The planning for a vacation can sometimes be almost as much fun as taking the trip.  In Barcelona, there is so much to look forward to.  Whether warm beaches, warm culture, or wonderful dining is your true desire, it will find fulfillment here.  There are all sorts of beautiful distractions, and the rich nightlife is perhaps one of the more notable of these.  There is a wonderful urban sophistication here that mixes with the luxury of the water, and the effect is quite stimulating.

There are artists and writers and movie stars and professionals who haunt the city regularly, because its atmosphere is so amenable to so many ways of life.  There is a fantastic university system here, and some of the more prominent doctors specializing in nervous disorders are doing their life work here.  There are interestingly enough a good number of conferences devoted to sharing research and information on the neurodegenerative Parkinson’s disease in Barcelona .  There is a large one slated for 2011, and other conferences held here in the past few years to suggest that some of the more exciting research may be in pursuit in Barcelona.

Parkinson’s disease is a condition of the nervous system that is considered a movement disorder.  At one time it was referred to as the shaking palsey, although more compassionate views of the disorder are not so explicit to describe its social symptom.  Some of the more famous people to have contracted Parkinson’s, and who are very outspoken about education and progress in treatment, are Michael J. Fox, and Mohammed Ali.  There are a number of pharmaceutical treatments, although no viable cure in sight, but there is enough evidence to suggest that the pioneering work of these celebrities in keeping it in the spotlight.  One particularly interesting finding from Barcelona links the presence of Parkinson’s disease to an increased possibility of Visual Hallucinations .  The hypothesis is that the sleep disturbance caused by the disease leads to REM activity intruding into waking state, that is, dreaming while conscious.
