Intellectuals of Bangalore
During my college days, when I was working a the Luxury Hotels Bangalore , I had admired many of my peers, who were considered to be intellectuals . Appearing to have very deep knowledge of different subjects. I wondered at the source of their knowledge and found belatedly that they imbibed all their knowledge from select libraries and select lectures. Being exposed to select literature’s and books from these libraries and select lectures, I’ve noticed, has cause a kind of ‘stoned’ look; a look I consider to be intellectual.
For me, the intellectual of India should give the appearance of being anti-establishment as long as the establishment is pro majority religion by opposing the act of establishment under a different intellectually invented phrase. With this, one can get entry into this very elite club of intellectuals. Which I did not have, nor could I even dream of even matching this quality of the thinking mind. I found any action by a person belonging to a minority community or by certain criminals under the garb of ‘social cause’ should be studied and watched stoically in silence. If I see they lose sleep over any of those causes, then this, to me, is truly a true intellectual and not just a walking rhetoric.
What I found in common among these intellectual is how eloquently they would defend the policies of the United States . They all did it so beautifully, defending even the worst incidences. In India, to be an intellectual, I found one has to be a ‘selective atheist’, my own coinage which can not be compared anywhere around the world, not believing in anything, on which the majority of Indians have a belief. So, for me to qualify as an intellectual is not applicable because the intellectuals believe that most of the Indians are gullible fools with which I have been deemed.
